Fly a Kite

Now the season of wind, rain, beautifully coloured trees and - kites begins. Do you know the wonderful film Mary Poppins? It is based on the novels of P.L. Travers. This film has some fantastic songs. One of them is Let's Go Fly A Kite.

Here are the lyrics but we must warn you - it is a catchy tune.

Mr. Banks:

With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feed on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh. let's go fly a kite!

Bert:
When you send it flyin'up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over 'ouses and trees
With your fist 'olding thight
To the string of your kite

Londoners:
Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Let's go fly a kite!

When Should My Child Learn a Second Language?

Most experts agree that the earlier a child is introduced to a second language, the greater the chances are that the child will become truly proficient in the language. A February 1996 Newsweek article made the claim that A child taught a second language after the age of 10 or so is unlikely ever to speak it like a native. This statement is supported by linguists and has been proven in extensive research studies.

Feedback from Teachers

The Ding is an excellent method for motivating children to read and appreciate English books as part of their learning. At Enjoy English we are proud to offer the Ding as a complement to our library. Children can check their understanding in an independent way by using the quizzes and they like the challenge of collecting points. This method is user-friendly, fun and effective. The books that the quizzes test are well-chosen and attractive for learners. Teacher, children and parents are happy!

Feed your Brain

Prof. A.C. Grayling, in a review of A History of Reading by Alberto Manguel had said, To read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experience and the fruits of many inquiries.

Imagine that every day you wake up, you eat and drink to keep your body alive and working. But what do you do for your brain? Reading is one important answer. It is like food for your mind and soul. Reading encourages you to think and imagine even the impossibles.

A Chinese proverb says: A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.

So lets enjoy the garden and grab a book!

Spring is in the Air

It is always amazing. You wake up and the birds are singing. You know that the cold and grey mornings soon will be over, you clean your bike, and the first easter decorations are appearing in the shopping windows.

Time for going outside and catch some sun rays.
